Lucrezia Borgia: a renaissance opera dinner experience
“Lucrezia Borgia is considered to be the most ill-reputed of women in modern History. Is it because she was the guiltiest amongst them? Does she only have to carry the burden of the abhorrence of the world – that was wrongly imposed on her ?”
Ferdinando Gregorovius
As you enjoy your welcome drink we will present you the experience. Learn more about one of the most powerful among the noble families in 14th century Rome while enjoying entertaining stories and anecdotes, and mostly tasting delicious recipes in a fascinating historical site.
The evening was named “The Scary Dinner” with humour because the Princess Lucrezia Borgia – daughter of Pope Alexander VI famous for her beauty and charm – was also known as a clever politician and a refined poisoner!
This show includes some lyrical arias of Lucrezia Borgia di Donizetti which were inspired by the biography of Victor Hugo. The story highlights some of her famous romances, and will shed new perspectives on the Pope’s daughter. In our story one of the Pope’s imaginary descendants retraces their legendary ancestor.
